I hope everyone's planning on attending this year's seminar with Bettye Zoller August 18 and 19. I just dropped by Loyola University New Orleans Theatre Department's year and picnic and everyone there is really excited. Here's looking to some first-time attendees. To those interested: The seminar is hosted in collaboration with Zoller’s company VoicesVoices. The company provides instruction for voice actors and produces voice demos and audiobooks. Guest sound engineer Michael Kelly will provide instruction on the use of recording equipment and software.
Participants will practice scripts for narration, commercial, audiobooks and even animation. Beyond acting practice, these scripts will help voice-talent produce audio demos.
In addition to practice with the equipment and demo advice, voice-talent will learn how to construct a studio on a budget. Studio basics, microphone care and information about audio vendors will be provided.
The seminar takes place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, with catered lunches. The seminar fee is $350 and $299 for members of The NOLA Voice Talent Foundation and SAG-AFTRA. Enrollment details can be found at www.nolavoicetalent.org, www.voicesvoices.com, or from Stephen James at 504-355-9673 or stephen@nolavoicetalent.org.
