It's awards season again in Hollywood South..!

Oh what a night!
2017 Hollywood South Awards Gala celebrations galore

A full house at the 2017 Hollywood South Awards Gala, organised by The NOLA Voice Talent Foundation in conjunction with the Background Actors Guild (BAG), reflected just why Hollywood South is bouncing back - not that it ever went away.

The awards are presented in recognition of individual talent and commitment to the movie, theater, broadcasting, and voice-over industries in Louisiana and region - and talent was there a-plenty on Saturday evening (November 4th) as the best of the best turned out on the red carpet for the FIFTH annual gala - the major social event in the calendar for Hollywood South.

Keynote speaker Stephen James, who organized and hosted the event on behalf of The NOLA Voice Talent Foundation, emphasized in his speech the importance of youth to the development of Hollywood South, and the role of all who work in the region's movie and related industries to encourage and foster the enthusiasm of junior performers.

Guest speaker, acting coach Jim Gleason, also praised the people of the industry for making being among "the best in the world", while casting director Brent Caballero also acknowledged the hard work which people in the region's industry put into making Hollywood South a worldwide success.

The winners of this year's NVT Legends Award were Adella Gauthier and Carol Sutton, who have a combined 80-year career in film and television and are original members of Dashiki Project Theatre, a premier African American theatre company which was legendary in New Orleans in the 60s and 70s.

The main award - the NVT Top Performer Award 2017 went to Casey Groves - a previous NVT Award nominee - for his total commitment to the industry as one of the region's leading acting coaches and a staunch supporter of the community.

The 2017 Movie Actor Award went to Diana Boylston, President of the New Orleans Region of SAG-AFTRA, not only for her professionalism as a performer herself, but also for her unstinting work in the industry throughout her career to support rising performers

And the venue was magnificent - recently-refurbished from the former Gretna Main Post Office, The Gretna Cultural Center for the Arts provided the perfect backdrop for the gala as a jewel in the crown of Louisiana Arts venues.

From trophy sponsor Lisa Fuller, Actors Choice Talent Agency:  "The Awards were great again this year!  I really enjoy these events, because it is a great networking opportunity and a chance to see what everyone has been doing for the past year.

"To me sponsoring an award is a big deal, to have my name associated with an award that will go to the person who is the best in their category is not only an honor for the talent, but also for myself.

"The icing on the cake of the whole event is that it is all to support the Louisiana Film Industry!"

NOLA Voice Talent 2017 Awards
raises over $1000
for Background Actors Guild

The NOLA Voice Talent is delighted to have donated over $600 to the Background Actors Guild from ticket revenues from this year's Hollywood South Awards.

In addition, the Foundation waived all costs to BAG for this year's event, which was joined by the Guild for the second year running.

The event, the FIFTH organized by The NOLA Voice Talent Foundation, forms part of a program of activities provided by the Foundation to support the community as a whole and the film and entertainment industries in particular.

Organized and produced by Stephen James, Founder and Executive Director of The NOLA Voice Talent Foundation, and with the support of his team and BAG founder Eric Price, the event attracted a full house at Gretna Cultural Center for the Arts, with leading members of the Hollywood South industries in attendance.

Remarked Stephen James: "We are delighted to support  the Background Actors Guild both by providing them with a vehicle to present the annual BAG Award and by making a significant donation to their organization.

"Background actors play a significant role in the production of any and every movie, and we feel it is of great importance that they have a platform to increase the recognition which background actors deserve."

Eric Price was delighted to receive the donation and support of NVT, remarking: "We are very grateful for the support of Stephen and The NOLA Voice Talent Foundation, and their generosity will help us towards achieving 501(c)6 status this coming year."

With the exception of the STAR PERFORMER AWARD and the FILM ACTOR AWARD, the Annual NVT Awards in the various categories are selected by The NOLA Voice Talent Foundation to reflect and encourage the contribution by members of the film and related industries to both the industry and the community at large.

The STAR PERFORMER AWARD and the HOLLYWOOD SOUTH FILM ACTOR AWARD are selected by an Awards Panel, hand-picked from the Louisiana Film Industry, by considering open nominations from the industry across Louisiana. The Awards panel comprises Lorraine LeBlanc, Lance Nichols, Veleka Gray, Stephen James, and Deborah Smith.

The Background Actors Guild (BAG) Awards are selected by members of BAG to reflect and encourage the contributions by members of the film industry behind-the-scenes.
